Top Chef "Guilty Pleasures"

I know I'm late but I just watched this episode of Top Chef last night. The premise of this week's show was to give the contestants a break and let them enjoy Miami nightlife. They all got dressed up for clubbing and as soon as they showed up to the club, they were asked to cook instead of go inside of the club. As a girlfriend of a chef, I could have told you this was coming. Chefs never get to party, they're always the ones cooking for the party. Don't get me wrong, they make their own party after the fact, usually in the wee hours in the morning. I just can't believe how shocked they were that they couldn't go clubbing! Sara said she was violated because she was asked to cook in a low cut shirt and heels. Don't dress so slutty for the club and you won't feel violated.
I printed out the 18 page application for Danny to apply to be on Top Chef cycle 4 because I totally think he can do it. Since we don't live near an open casting call city he would have to make a video. I was all pumped about helping him film the video but the deadline is August 15 and there's just not enough time. He only gets one day off a week, a weekday, and I work on weekdays, so it's too hard. But next year expect to see Danny from Cleveland on Top Chef!

My Hands Are Bananas
Last night I was introduced to this video on YouTube. I was at a party with a group of girls ALOT younger than me so that pretty much explains it. It's funnier with a couple drinks in you.

Blurbs

Every thing I've done lately has been boring. I get bored halfway through typing it. So here's a condensed version:
• Went to an original 50's diner called Annabelle's in Mentor with Danny. The reason I wanted to take him there was they have classic cars in their parking lot and Danny is a car nut. The food at the diner was disapointing and our server was this girl I used to waitress with 3 years ago which was random.
• Went to a baby shower where I was able to give my gift that I had ordered from etsy.com! This was the first time I was excited to give a baby gift because I seem eons away from that point in my life right now and generally don't care about baby stuff. They don't know what they're having so I found this perfect bib and onesey with apples and pears on it in a modern graphic fabric.
• Got inspired to bake! But not really because it was a no bake dessert, Banana Caramel Chocolate Spice Pie. It was a hit, everybody I gave it to loved it! And these people are in the restaurant business and picky! I took it from here.

Ocean City booked!

My boyfriend just booked us a long weekend in Ocean City, MD! Above is a picture of Seacrets, a daytime bar/night club. The last time we were there, summer of 05, I dropped my room key right in the bay sitting on the bar stool! It was an old school actual "key" on a keychain. They have this signature drink called Pain in da Ass which is basically a rum runner. We were drinking those like water because it was so hot, and I have never gotten so drunk before in the middle of the day! I had to be driven back to the hotel and put wet washcloths on my head. But totally worth it! Seacrets at night is pretty fun too, but very very overcrowded. The first time I went I wore high heels and sunk into the sand all night because the only part of the club that's not sand is the dancefloor. So I guess to learn from my experiences, hold onto your room key, don't drink Pain in da Asses when you are dehydrated, and don't wear high heels. I'm glad I can help.

McHigh School

Ok I'lll admit it. I used to be the McDonald's queen. I started working there right around my 15th birthday and worked until I graduated high school at 18 with even a few stints in college. When you work there, one of your employee "benefits" is free food for your break. So for pratically 4 years, I ate McDonald's food every week. Being the health conscious person that I am, I usually got around the totally fattening foods by choosing soup, yogurt, ice cream in a cup with no topping, low fat apple muffins (which they don't make anymore!). Sometimes I craved fries and double cheeseburgers. I try to avoid McDonald's at all costs now after the food overload in my teenage years but what has brought me back is their Iced Coffee. It tastes like something I would get at Starbuck's or Caribou, comes in hazelnut, my favorite coffee flavor, and is cheaper.
Today I went to McDonald's with literally 8 minutes left before I had to be at work. I looked at the line up in the drive-thru and saw that it would take longer than the time I had so I risked going inside. Parking your car and hoofing it inside is risky because from working at McDonald's I know that they usually have either new employees or senior citizens and your order is bound to be processed slow. After repeating myself a couple of times the order was fine, although the coffee tastes really bland. I think she forgot to put syrup in it or something. I also got a fruit and yogurt parfait which was excellent so that makes up for the bland coffee. What makes it so good is that the fruit was melted. There's nothing worse than getting one they just made with frozen fruit that tastes like ice cubes.
I'm glad I went inside today because looking at the counters and the drive-thru brought back great memories of working during high school. Those were really good times when I had no worries. My first kiss, my first boyfriend and my best girlfriend were all people I met working there. I know it sounds cliché, but I did really learn how to communicate better, people skills, etc. It's good to know I can relive all these moments just by walking into a McDonald's.

I ♥ The Office

I haven't posted about how much I love The Office because they are in reruns right now, but I happened to catch one of my favorites last night "The Initiation". The part that literally makes me laugh out loud (lol) is when Michael imitates Bill Cosby: "I love Jell-O puddin' pops. My son Theo loves puddin' pops, too." Pam was told by Jan to keep a log of everything Michael does and she writes Cosby Impression on the blank time log. Also, I just spent the last 2.5 hours reading the archives of "Mindy Kaling's blog" who plays Kelly on The Office. She goes by the alias Mindy Ephron. She blogs about stuff she buys, and it's cool reading about the frivolous stuff a B-list celebrity can afford, as well as cheap finds. She also sneaks in some behind the scenes tidbits from The Office because she is one of the show's contributing writers.
Let's see what else has been going on....I went to yet another lia sophia jewelry party last night. This time my bank statement and my credit card statement would not allow me to buy anything so I just ate, socialized and left.
On July 3rd, I went to a party that started off as a nice relaxing BBQ and turned into a wild drunkfest where everybody got thrown into a pool. Except me. I threatened everyone I would never talk to them again if they threw me into the pool. I have pictures of drunken people in their underwear but I promised I wouldn't post them on the internet. It was very bizarre. My boyfriend and I were talking later how far past the getting-drunk-to-the-point-of-getting-naked-and-throwing-up stage in our lives we are but these people are a couple years younger than us so they must not be there yet.
On July 4 I broke my favorite pair of sandals ever!!!!!!!!!!! They were a medium blue thong wedge with sequins on the straps. They matched with every outfit I wear in the summer!!!!! The blue matched all my jeans, jean capris and jean skirts. I am at a loss right now. All the other sandals I have are uncomfortable or don't match. I will soon be on the hunt for sandals that meet all these criteria: blue, thong, wedge, and comfortable. DSW keeps blasting my email about 80% off sales, so I want to make a trip there first. I tried looking online, but since I have such weird feet, I absolutely must try on shoes before buying them. I was happy though to spend the 4th with my boyfriend who is a chef and is constantly working. He made these awesome chicken skewers marinated in malibu rum and pineapple for the BBQ. I guess that softened to blow of my broken sandals a little.☺
Like this but blue!
