You came in with the breeze.....On Sunday morning

Last night I had rigatoni. But it reminded me of spaghetti. Which led me to think about the music video for No Doubt's Sunday Morning. Apparently my reminiscing about the 90's is still going strong. I revisited the video on YouTube and came to these conclusions:

1. Gwen's outfit is perfect from head to toe. Black quarter length sleeve cartigan sweater, leopard print skirt with black lace trim, leopard print platform shoes. She wore that in 1996, 11 years ago, and it is as stylish today as it was back then.
2. What's up with that guy in the swing? He's creepy.
3. I loved it when they started cooking spaghetti together but I felt a little unnerved when they started spilling it all over the floor and each other.

I might just need to pick up a leopard print skirt or heels now!



Update: I just bought it!!!!! I hope it fits!!!!!!

Sad

I'm kind of in a rut right now in my life. I'm so over my job, which I took as an act of desperation. I can't find a new job that I really like and believe me, I've been on interviews monthly for all of 2007. I think my sadness stems from when my family crumbled to pieces 3 years ago, and I just repressed my emotions instead of dealing with them. I know the whole world gets divorced, but it really hit me hard because I didn't see it coming. My loving family turned into two vicious sides, and I was forced to pick one. I picked my mom's side because I was living with her and my dad was forced out of the house with a restraining order. I couldn't pick my dad's side while living with my mom, there was just no way. My sister tried to do that and it was miserable with daily fights. That was the end of it with my dad and me. He said some of the worst things a father can say to their child. He said I never helped him, I picked my mom's side, and that he wasn't walking me down the aisle. That last bit struck a huge chord with me. I had been seeing my boyfriend for a year and getting to the point where I was imagining what it would be like to be married. To have your father tell you he's not walking you down the aisle!!! He also met this bitch that he moved in with literally one month after this all went down. My parents didn't get divorced until a year later. I remember I had to go to a MOTHER'S DAY breakfast with my dad's side of the family right after he met HER, and he brought HER to it, where we met for the first time. She looked like an uglier, skankier version of my mom. My grandmother defeatedly said "Do you mind if she's here?" I said no, but in my heart I was saying YES! I do mind! He's trying to replace my mom! I felt like I was watching a movie of someone else's life. My mom was to blame too but for some reason I can forgive her. I don't know why, but I feel compassion for her mistakes and the harsh words my father used on me leaves me numb to him. He left me alone for all of last year and recently he's starting to bother me again by calling and leaving messages. I just delete them without listening so I don't know what he wants. I can't let this hold me down and prevent me from making the changes I need in my life to make me happy. I hope something good comes my way soon.

Things I like right now

• Tortilla Soup from Cozumel. It's a broth based soup with big chunks of chicken, rice, veggies and strips of tortilla on top. Sooooo good!

• 90's music. I don't know if the 90's were the best part of my life and I want to revert back to it or what. It's pretty annoying actually.

• Pecan Passion Body Lotion from Bath and Body Works. I received this as a gift last year and I love it! You can smell it on your skin hours later.

• Dane Cook. Lately all these moments in my life revert to a Dane Cook skit. I was cleaning the men's bathroom of the pizza place where I work on Saturdays and it was trashed. I couldn't help but think of Dane Cook falling all over the stage imitating a wet men's public bathroom with the doors all busted in. He's coming to Cleveland November 10 and I want to see him but I don't think I can afford it. :(

Free movies part 2, The Kingdom

The crowd going to see this movie was insane, more than I've ever seen at a free movie. They actually had to turn people away! Since the subject matter was so controversial because it concerns the war on terror, I just want to mention the opening sequence. I always look at opening credits after studying film in school. I actually was required to take a class for my major called "Motion PIcture" where we analyzed movies and wrote screenplays. The Kingdom starts with a mini-documentary about the relationship between the U.S. and Iraq in the oil industry. It is all animated and all of a sudden the graphic on the screen turns into the twin towers. An animated plane swoops in from the audience and "hits" the towers and the movie starts. Pretty cool!

Free movies part 1, Feast of Love

Our local radio station, Q104, gives out free movie tickets on their website. You just type in your name, address, etc. and 9 times out of 10 you will get movie tickets sent to your house. Well, I taught my aunt how to do it, signed up my boyfriend and myself so I have three free movies to see!

Last night was Feast of Love. I thought it was going to be a love story, but it was actually a story about the main character played by Morgan Freeman and all crazy things happening to the people around him. This included divorce, lesbianism, cheating, tons of sex, tons of nudity, marriage and death. A little embarassing to see the sex scenes with my aunt and mom but oh well. :) My aunt commented that the movie would be better as a novel and I read online later that it was based on the book "The Feast of Love" by Charles Baxter.



I was also introduced to blond hottie Toby Hemingway! I'm considering seeing The Covenant because he's in it.

Sparx in the City

My friends convinced me to go to this annual art show where you can take a trolley to different art galleries that are a huge pain to drive to individually. We parked at Little Italy and took the trolley to Tremont, where I normally would never go on my own. We went to a craft show type thing in tents on an open field. Then we walked to an awesome art gallery called Banyan Tree that had pretty much everything cool you see online and in magazines. What I love about Tremont is that is extremely pet friendly - almost everyone had a dog with them, and there were stray kittens running around in and out of the art galleries. To top the almost perfect day off, we went to Tremont Scoops, a quirky ice cream parlor complete with a mural featuring dogs eating ice cream on a checkerboard floor. They sell the ice cream cones by weight, so you can control exactly how much they give you. I had banana pudding which had a sign by it that said best flavor award (I don't know who gave the awards out) and it was extremely good. This day was too good to be true because going home we got stuck in horrendous traffic on the trolley. The Cleveland Browns AND Indians game let out at once and it took us 45 minutes to even get back to our parked car. I'm glad I went.....I never do anything cultural and I felt like I was a visitor to Cleveland since I have never visited these places before. Definately will be back next year!
